Class Descriptions

For all classes, participants should dress in comfortable clothing with stretch, and bring their own yoga/exercise mats, a towel, and a water bottle if possible.

STRETCH AND TONE: Stretch and Tone is a low impact, moderate intensity workout that will tone your muscles, increase your range of motion and flexibility, and help you to relieve stress. Stretch and Tone is for all ages and ability levels, and focuses on muscle tone and flexibility to improve your performance in physical activities and decrease your risk of injuries.

YOGA: Yoga is a series of stretches and poses that you do with guided breathing techniques. While this class offers the powerful benefits of exercise, yoga is gentle and this class is tailored to each class participants level of expertise, so nearly anyone can do it, regardless of your age or fitness level. A typical yoga class begins with breath awareness, followed by a warm up, moving on to a series of postures to develop strength and flexibility, which will be done as standing work, and floor work.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, please! Signing up in advance allows us to prepare the instructors for approximate class size or potentially cancel a class if there are no scheduled participants- we don’t want to waste our instructors time! Each Fitness Class has an individual sign up sheet. You can sign up via the clickable links on this page or on the Weekly Wellness Reports. Please register for all Fitness Classes at least 12 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

  • You can still attend a Fitness Class if you forgot to sign up BUT it helps us greatly if you do sign up for the class. We may cancel the class if no one registers in advance.

  • If you have your own equipment, you are encouraged to bring it with you! A small supply of extra equipment will be available for use, but it’s always good practice to come prepared or bring things to share. You should dress appropriately for gentle/moderate exercise. Bringing your own water and a small towel to all classes is recommended. The most important thing to bring is yourself and a positive attitude—by participating, you are investing in your health and wellness!

  • Not at all! All experience levels will be welcomed and celebrated at the Glimmerglass Wellness Program Fitness Classes! We want everyone to feel like they can grow and be supported in achieving their health and fitness goals this summer. The classes will range from beginner to moderate level fitness, covering modifications and encouraging you to listen to your body and your needs. Regardless of your experience level, you will find opportunities to learn, be challenged, and grow!

  • Nope! All classes are free for GGF employees!

  • No. The Glimmerglass Wellness Program Fitness Classes are an optional benefit of employment by the Glimmerglass Festival. Employees can not log hours or be paid for attending a Fitness Class.

  • We are all able to make decisions about how we use our time. However, if your Supervisors find out you missed a work call to attend a Fitness Class… we’ll let you be the judge of whether that is a good idea. We worked hard to ensure that all Glimmerglass employees had access to at least one fitness class a week without fear of work interference.
